Pre-War

  • Screen will show “Pre War” in top center header
    • Make sure the top center header does not show “Start”
  • In the board game, Pre-War is performed by each player alternating to choose one card, until the Declaration of War is chosen.
  • In ACTS, Pre-War is performed by each player alternating to first rolling one die roll before picking a card (there is no Declaration of War card in this deck; note there are only 31 cards in the ACTS deck – not 32 as in the game).
  • U.S. goes first
    • U.S. rolls one 14-sided die (manually set to 14 sided die before rolling)
    • If a “1” is rolled:  Declaration of War card is considered to have been drawn.
      • Click on “Edit Current Hand Size” on right
      • Set the applicable hand size for each side:

Set this number to be the total number of cards that each player should be holding in their hand at this point in time after the war card is played.  For example, for player #1 three cards were previously held and two were played (one as the war card), set their hand size to be five (ACTS will deal two more cards in the next step to give this player a total of five cards in their hand at this time).  For example, for player #2 one card was held and three cards were played, set their hand size to be four.  (ACTS will deal three more cards in the next step to give this player a total of four cards in their hand at this time).

  • Click on “End Turn” on left and Pre-War Phase is over.
    • Top center header should show “1812 Spring/Summer”
    • Then it is the British turn ; go to 1812 Spring/Summer instructions
    • If a “1” is not rolled:  Pre-War Phase continues.
      • Click on “Draw Extra Card” on right
      • Just like in the board game, decide whether to play the card or keep the card (in the Pre-War)
        • If playing the card, click on the card and type in your move.
        • If not playing the card, click on “Held Cards (Pre War Turn)” and type in the number of cards held (add one to current number)
      • Click on “Pre War (Counter)”
        • Change the number to one less than the die number previously rolled (e.g., change to 13 after first U.S. die roll)
      • It is now the British turn:

British goes second

  • British rolls one die equal to the “Pre War (Counter)” value (manually set die before rolling)
